Dear Mark,
I first was introduced to the thought of using Lanoguard 3000 products by
a new employee who had come across it previously. We initially tried the
Lanoguard 3000 LS5 HD lubricant for tapping holes into Ductile Iron. Trials
of the lubricant gave very good results, which led us to using the product
on a longer trial basis. We used this period of time to try and evaluate
the benefits, if any, we would gain from using this product.
When evaluating the product we were mainly concerned with how the lubricant
affected our tooling life. Results led to longer life expectancy for the
machine taps and surprisingly other benefits became evident the more we used
the product. We found that since the product didn't dry out over time it
made cleaning off our product easier after machining. Literature on the Lanoguard
products claimed that it has good metal preservation, corrosion prevention,
and antiseize properties, we then proceeded to test these claims. These tests
led to us discarding other anti-seize compounds we were currently using,
which subsequently led to better efficiencies in our assembly processes.
From the above information it is evident that we have undertaken to use the
Lanoguard Lubricant on a regular basis. We also use the product as a lubricant
on our Mazak machining centre to help protect the machines slide ways and
any other moving parts that come into contact with ductile iron swarf and
cutting lubricants.
